From Hupu on January 9th. Official news, the Spanish Sports High Council issued a notice, officially approving Barcelona to obtain a stay order to register Olmo and Paulo Victor in the Spanish Professional Football League (LALIGA).

Full statement

The Spanish Sports High Council (CSD) approved on Wednesday the request for emergency interim measures submitted by FC Barcelona and players Dani Olmo and Paulo Victor.

This measure is temporary in nature until the final decision of the appeal filed by the club and the above-mentioned players. The measure suspends the resolution of the Supervisory Committee of the Coordination Agreement between the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Spanish Professional Football League (LALIGA) signed on January 4, 2025 and the cancellation of the sports licenses of the relevant players. At the same time, the existing licenses will remain valid until the final decision is made.

In order to evaluate this emergency interim measure, the CSD analyzed the 52-page appeal document and more than 60 related materials attached. In their complaint, FC Barcelona, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor pointed out that the Supervisory Committee's duties are limited to interpreting and implementing the terms of the coordination agreement between the Spanish Football Federation and LALIGA, monitoring its implementation and promoting activities related to improving its efficiency.

Therefore, they questioned whether the Supervisory Committee has the authority to decide whether to grant a pre-visa or full license to professional football players and considered that the relevant resolution of the Committee may be completely invalid in law.

Without prejudice to the final ruling, the CSD found that there may be a completely invalid legal basis and immediate and irreparable damage to the players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor and their legal guarantees. These damages directly affect the rights granted to them by the current Sports Code.

The CSD specifically pointed out that according to Article 27 of the Sports Code, professional athletes have the right to dddhhhenjoy a professional career in accordance with their potentialdddhhh with full guarantees and legal certainty.

Currently, FC Barcelona and its players are participating in the Spanish Super Cup, the first official tournament of the season with global influence. Only the teams that performed best in the domestic competitions of the previous season can participate in this tournament.

The CSD believes that if this temporary measure is not taken, it will cause serious economic and competitive losses to the clubs, especially the players. Such losses may also harm the interests of the Spanish national team and other domestic competitions, including La Liga.

Finally, the CSD emphasized that this ruling does not prejudge the substantive issues involved in the appeal.
